St. Vitus Church: Church History at a glance
Right at the foot of the fortress mountain the church of St. Vitus is located. The hall church in late Gothic style was built around 1400.
During the centuries it was increasingly decorated by baroque elements, until it was finally rebuilt in the 19th century in late classical style. Rudolf Stolz (Bolzano) made the ornate frescoes inside in 1929. Who risks a look behind the altar, may marbel at frescoes remains of 1420 there.
